Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye !!!!!

Well not really - but then I always was a drama queen !!!
Today I have my assessment - and the accused ate a hearty breakfast ( Well I didn't but I will have some coco pops when I get to work) . Not looking forward to it as the last six months has not been good health wise what with tablet changes etc and I know my work has suffered.
Yesterday was okay but FF was in major 'monk' mood for some reason and snapping whenever he deemed to speak at all so I kind of kept out of the way - difficult as our desks are next to each other .
Ellie has swimming tomorrow so it was major drama in the annual ' search for the costume and hat ' area - now that Woolies isn't here any more , I can't even slip out in the lunch hour to get one.
Eye was playing up yesterday - think I was just tired so I went to bed early - DH was in a mood about something so no incentive to stay up and chat anyway.Jamie brought back some 'Cajun Squirrel' flavoured crisps to taste - interesting addition to my lunchbox. I remember when someone did hedgehog flavour some years back - was just beef flavoured with a different name.

Meme and Me !!!

Raph Neckman of Raph's Ramblings has promised to make me a gift, in return I will do the same for someone else
The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:- What I create will be just for you.- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!- You will receive your item before the end of the year (or sooner).- You will have no clue what the item is going to be.The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to repost this meme and make and send out five surprises of your own.Of course I jumped on it! I have changed his original idea a bit to suit what I can offer. I love that there is no immediate deadline. So I am offering the first 5 people that post a comment here something made by me for you!

Oh wondrous day , calee, callay !!!!

I vaguely remember my title quote from Alice in Wonderland but I've probably got it wrong and I know the spelling is not right !!! However it really does sum up how I feel about yesterday.
Miraculously , the sink area was devoid of crockery when I went down yesterday morning so either they took on board what I said or some little kitchen fairy had done their work.FF (ferret face , my boss for future reference)ended up buying a new dishwasher so all is well with the world until the next drama!!
It turns out the local hospital (my eye problem is now being managed at a specialist centre in another hospital) had missed making me an appointment - I last had one in November and rang them yesterday to see what was happening as my original consultant had said that she wanted to keep an eye (no pun intended) on my condition even though Bristol are treating me now.
I'm in 'flare up' at the moment because of the viral infection which is a bit awkward when I'm working - it's like looking at little black flies , at least its not got to net curtain stage!!
Got a nice little book with amigurumi (small crocheted animals) patterns so this weekend I might start Ellie crocheting - we'll see how patient I feel after my assessment with FF on Thursday!
On another note , I've had another win - I've won a paintballing session for up to 35 people lunch include so I'm taking that into work and donating it to the social comittee (Finance Director and Corporate administrator) Have to say I'd love to let rip and blast a few people with paintballs (if that's all that's on offer)Mwah ! Mwah! Mwah !(evil laugh)
Achieved a fair bit on project work yesterday so quite pleased as it means I can crack on with routine stuff today.

Back again

Not blogged for ages - mainly because yet again I've been ill and even I'm sick of hearing about it - I pulled a muscle in my stomach coughing last week and ended up taking to my bed again - enough is enough ! I've got another appt with GP on Friday to discuss options ? vitamins and or iron tabs.
Annual appraisal on Thursday is not looking good as we've had a few set toos again . The dishwasher wasn't working when I got in yesterday morning so the wash from Friday hadn't been done - I rolled up my sleeves and got washing and put a sign on the dishwasher also rang engineer who couldn't get here till today . Half way through the morning the knives where out and 'someone' rang ferret features (my boss) to tell him the sink was full of dishes so he then began to rant on at me about how he expected the engineer out right away or me to sort out the dishes - I gently explained that no local engineer was going to come out the same day for a dishwasher and that hot water and washing up liquid was provided and last time I checked , all the staff downstairs where of an age when they should know how to wash a cup after themselves and not use a fresh one with every drink !!!! I then sent out an email asking for the co-operation until the engineer came - got one email back saying yes that was a sensible idea !!! I know I will go into the kitchen this morning and have to wash up again.
The next issue was that I hadn't put the fruit downstairs into the bowls (It had already gone into the office when I was washing the dishes ). I am thoroughly sick of his continual pettiness and if I could I would hand in my notice - roll on the lottery !!!
I managed to get some more stitching done over the weekend and hope to reach the back stitching soon .I really need to crack on with my gift for tsg for the retreat as I know the standard of stitching is very high so I need to produce something I won't be embarassed by.
Roll on the weekend !!!!!

The best laid plans ......

Oh well , Wednesday was not good after all . Not sure whether it was partly the fault of the higher dose of BP tabs or not but shortly after my last post I felt faint and giddy and never quite recovered so went back to bed and texted boss. As the day rolled on I got worse - shivery , achy coughing and sleepy so rang surgery - only managed to talk to triage nurse who told me ( she must have a pretty strong crystal ball is all I can say !!!!) that I had a virus and it wasn't the tablets and to rest and take plenty of fluids - having relayed this to boss , I stayed in bed . Felt worse Thursday and stayed off yesterday. Dave had to pick Ellie up early fromn school as she was sick - triggered she said by watching her friend spit a small pony into her bag !!!
I am still coughing and my BP is low . Ellie is also coughing and Dave still has his cough. Jamie told me that he and girlfriend Rosie have decided to have a break for a bit as she 'needs some space''' Ah , well , 'young love'.
Managed to get a bit of sewing done yesterday as my eyes didn't feel as if they where aching from the eyelids in.
Playing catch up on computer now as you can see.
I found my cashpoint card under the computer desk ( I cancelled it last Thursday as I thought I'd lost it and reordered one which still hasn't arrived)
I might have won the eurolottery last night if I'd got my numbers in in time - ah well c'est la vie- at least I'm registerd for tonight !
Dave's away at hockey so I'll crack on with the stitching.
Appetite is minimal as my taste seems to have gone awol so I may have managed to lose a tad although I wouldn't recommend it as a diet.
The weather is forecast to get bad tonight with gale force winds and rain then temperature drop from tomorrow. There's loads I want to do but just can't get up the enthusiasm to do it.
Got my letter from The Sampler Guild with details of the retreat at Muncaster in March - really looking forward to it .

The road to tranquility

Well , weatherwise the day was much calmer yesterday - it's gone back to being cold but not quite as cold as it was. GP's appointment was as good as it always is !!!! She hadn't bothered to read my notes so didn't know all the tabs I'm on or even the reason I'm on them. Blood results not brilliant so just to keep a watchful eye at the moment and doubled the BP tabs dose - lowering the steroids would have made more sense but there you go I'm just trained in pharmaceuticals and she's a full blown GP - what can I say - excuse my cynicism , there are good GP's I know but some GP's are at best adequate , I've worked with so many I feel it gives my a little notion on this subject.

One of the girls at work took some pictures out of the window last week when we had snow

Doesn't it look good ? The ducks and swans where all out yesterday - wish I could find my camera.

Busy week this week meeting wise wish I didn't feel so tired.

Down came the rain

Wow what a weather change - it absolutely poured down yesterday and with the added bonus of the wind it was truly awful - a bit quieter today .
Well Ellie is now 9 , where did all those years go ? We got here the two boxed sets that make up the complete Anne of Green Gables and she loves it. Also a big pink stocking from Hawkins Bazaar filled with all sorts of girlie crafts and thinks and a princess craft set also a light globe that projects the star systems onto her ceiling. A Hannah Montana Birthday cake completed the day.
Work is 'challenging' at the moment , I'm finding it difficult to pull the knives out of my back !!!! Ah well this too will pass (I hope).

Cold , cold, cold !!!

I am absolutely freezing - weather pixie says it's -7 C at the moment - I believe her.
It turned out to be a very busy week at work with a new project started.
We've had some snow this week - not much as it's too cold and we've had heavy frosts.
Yesterday was 'the hospital visit' . I had to go to Bristol and it takes up most of the day. There was both good news and bad news. The good news is that my eyes are good and 'quiet' at the moment so I can again drop my steroids in a month's time. The bad news is that my BP was very high and my bloods aren't good - I'm not clotting properly , it took ages for me to stop bleeding when they took my samples. So I've been told to be aware of the problem and be careful of cuts and bruises - it probably explains the increase in nose bleeds as well.
I fell as leep on the train coming home and went to bed for a nap as well - hospital visits always leave me feeling bushed.
It's Ellie's birthday on Sunday - I'll write more after the event just in case she sees this !!
Dave's been ill all week with flu so I don't hold out much hope of avoiding it - we can but hope !!!!
Hope to get loads of sewing done this weekend if possible - we'll see.

I feel important for once !!!

Willow at from http://willowmanor.blogspot.com/ has chosen to interview me on the promise that I interview 5 others - I'll leave the instructions at the end of the post.
1. I see from your blog that one of your main interests is needlework. What specific style is your favorite and how did you get started?
My favourite is free style embroidery but my most prolific is counted thread. My mother always had a needle or needles in her hands when I was a child - I learnt knitting , sewing and crochet and still do all crafts. I love to try anything new. I also quilt and am learning raised work

2. What would you consider your greatest accomplishment?
My children - too pat an answer I know !!! Probably spending 13 years in the WRAF and passing my pharmacy course

3. Other than your loved ones, what is your most treasured possession?
I've learnt over the years not to hold too much store by possesions as such - something usually seperates you from them and the heartache is ultimately not worth it.
I tend to treasure memories or feelings more - the first time I held my children , standing in the registrty office and saying 'I do' , My WRAF passing out parade with my dad watching.
Or the simple pleasure of curling up in bed of a weekend with my sewing and my daughter by my side reading or learing to sew or knit.

4. What do you most value in your friends?
Honesty and loyalty

5. Before blogging, what, if any, was your main mode of personal expression?
A pen and paper diary and my needlework

Right , if you've read this far , and would like to join the fun and be interviewed by me then here is what to do
Here's the instructions:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick the
questions).
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview
someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Which Grinch stole the holidays ?

Okay , back to work day today yet it seems like the holidays flew by.
Bath was very good . The hotel worked out well - 5-10 minutes walk from town centre. The only down was it overlooked the cemetry. We went to the theatre to see 'The Nutcracker' http://www.theatreroyal.org.uk/the-egg/shows/the-nutcracker which was brilliantly performed in the smaller theatre - the cast members played several parts including being musicians ans singers , there where a few gory bits but the children loved these.
We went to the pictures to see Madagascar the next night and ate in TGI Friday's before going in . During the day we wandered a bit in Bath but it was far too cold to stay out for long.
Last night it snowed so the temperature is supposedly up a bit but it doesn't seem so.
I got a nice letter with a little win on Saturday so that will go in the bank this week.
Hospital on Thursday - hope the weather clears a bit.
Ellie goes back to school tomorrow so she's in work with Dave this morning.
